Google just announced preparing its own music app, YouTube Music, which should be released May 22.
YouTube develops some new premium offers for its users. After YouTube Red, its $9.99 monthly subscription allowing a full ad-free access to the video platform, and also to some exclusive content, Google is about to launch a new music dedicated service : YouTube Music. This new platform will probably a new competitor for Apple and Spotify, still leaders on the music streaming market.
YouTube Music will basically be a 100% music version of YouTube Red. A new dedicated app will soon be available for users. It will also have its own desktop player. A free version will let users have access to music, but won’t let them skip ads, have an offline access… just like every other streaming service available today.
YouTube Red’s advantages won’t be about music listening, as it follows its competitors progress on the matter. Instead, it will be able to offer music to its listeners, but most importantly live sessions, covers, albums, video clips and remixes of their favourite songs. The totality of YouTube in one new app made especially for music lovers.
The new subscription will cost $9.99 per month. The YT Red subscription (which will now be called YouTube Premium) will go up to $11.99 and will include the music service following its launch. Good news for Google Play Music subscribers : YouTube Music will be included in their offer.
YouTube Music will first be launched in the USA, in New-Zealand, Mexico, South Korea, just like YouTube Red. It will afterwards be sent in Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and in the UK.
